Josh Roden - the gamer one

| | Comments (0)

Josh Roden recently commented that the other similarly-named people are sullying his reputation on the Internet. Perhaps a better Page Rank is in order for his web site. I am doing what little I can to help his cause by adding his site to my blog roll. Others should follow suit.

I will also suggest that Josh consider a rebranding. Perhaps he should begin refering to himself as Josh "The Gamer" Roden or Gamer Josh Roden to segment his following from the general market for Josh Roden. The Dude had some success with this strategy, though he somehow still managed to be confused with the other Jeffrey Lebowski.

Instapundit says I need a hobby. I'll take suggestions in the comments.

Cover-up

I realized yesterday that I instinctively cover my crotch when I walk through my front door. I'm pretty sure this is related to Zoe's tradition of running full-speed into me when I get home.

I'm packing the van for a family for a trip to Mustang Island. We're coming back on Sunday. Until then, the King of Wimpkiller will be on his own. The in-laws are coming by to feed the cats on Saturday. That will be his only chance for human contact while we're gone. Keep him entertained on the BBS.

goodnight moon

At my house, Goodnight Moon is huge with the under-one demographic. Ava is too young to enjoy this, but maybe some of you, my kind readers, will enjoy a powerpoint version of Goodnight Moon.

My Other Dance Moves

DVC requested information about my non-skipping dance moves. This is but a small sample.

UPDATE: If these disturbing images bother you please don't take offense.

My aching knees

| | Comments (1)

Zoe reported on Tuesday that she was the only girl at dance class who couldn't skip. Skipping is apparently a necessary skill for ballet. I suggested that we practice skipping together after dinner. For about 30 minutes, we skipped and frollicked to music from Disney's Princess Collection. Zoe's skipping technique improved tremendously, but my knees are paying the price. I learned that overweight men shouldn't skip on hard floors. Skipping is about 20 times as hard on my knees as any of my other dance moves.

I'm sorry to report, that video of my skipping and frollicking session will not be made available.

Every blog needs a feed

| | Comments (2)

I only read blogs that have RSS or Atom feeds. This isn't a choice I made, but I am letting everybody know that it is a fact. Occasionally, I stumble onto a blog I want to keep up with that doesn't offer RSS or Atom. Even though I mean to check it regularly, I usually forget.

Unless bloglines notifies me that a blog has been updated, I usually don't think to check it. Obviously, bloglines can't do that if there is no site feed.

So, those of you with blogs that have no site feed, I beg you, please add one. It is easy to do. If you use blogger, follow these instructions. If you use Movable Type, you can find information in your blog settings.

I should be asleep, but I'm watching What About Bob? instead. I just noticed that Bob has the same pill sorter as me.

hiccups

| | Comments (0)

I know of two 100% cures for hiccups. I will share them with you.

Drink apple juice from an infant's bottle. Make sure the nipple is for 0-3 months. The restricted flow is important. It is the vacuum created by trying to suck out the juice that helps the hiccups. I have seen this method work for people aged 1 to 28.

If you don't have access to an infant's bottle, have somebody cradle you in their arms and sing "rockaby hiccups" while rocking you gently back and forth. It may seem that the hiccups are lulled to sleep, but there is an alternate theory. The belly-laugh brought on by the sillyness of the situation may be responsible for curing the hiccups. This method has only been tested on a four-year-old girl.
