Zoe the Photographer

| | Comments (3)

We let Zoe use the camera tonight, and she took some pretty good photos. It is interesting to see what the world looks like from her perspective.

Two Games the World Needs

| | Comments (2)

Zoe and I play two games that the world needs to know about.

Hide and Go Tickle
Hide and Go Tickle is a new game that we have only played once. It is a lot like Hide and Go Seek, except when the seeker gets close to the hider, the hider jumps out and tickles the seeker. Hide and Go Tickle is great fun for Zoe and me, but it is disturbing for Ava to see me jump out from a closet and knock Zoe on the floor to tickle her.

Hide and Go Fish
During bath, after Ava is out, Zoe hides five, colored plastic fish among the other bath toys while Sarah and I1 get Ava ready for bed. When I get back, I find the five fish. Zoe closes her eyes for my turn to hide the fish. It's simple game with a fixed ending. Bath time is over when Zoe finds the fifth fish or Love Me Tender ends - whichever occurs first.

1. Mostly Sarah.

Ava is a punk

As part of our bath time music appreciation series, I introduced Zoe to The Ramones by way of Rock and Roll High School, and she absolutely loves it. She insisted on listening to The Ramones for the rest of bath. Ava tolerated it.

After a sampling of about five songs, Zoe liked them all except Sheena is a Punk Rocker. Her favorite is Rockaway Beach, which after negotiations I agreed to move to the front of our bath time play list.

Of course I had to tell her that Joey Ramone died (she asks about all singers). Zoe said she will see Joey Ramone in heaven.

Zoe is a punk. Ava is a runt. They both went down to Berlin, joined the ice capades.

Here's the playlist for bath time with Zoe and Ava.

A Little Less Conversation remix (the girls get in the tub)
The Joker - Fatboy Slim
I Got You - James Brown
Long Time Gone - Dixie Chicks
Let Your Light Shine - Joe McDermott
Love Me Tender

Howdy Mr. Lincoln

I have some more macro photography for you. Everybody else here probably knows this, but I didn't know you could see Lincoln on the back of a penny until I looked at a macro photo I took tonight.

Rehearsal Night

| | Comments (1)

Zoe's ballet company had the dress rehearsal for Cinderella tonight. The performances are Saturday and Sunday. She is very excited.

After her part - she was cast as fairy dust - Zoe sat down and watched the older dancers for the rest of the ballet. She didn't take her eyes off the stage until the curtain closed. Zoe was absolutely entranced.

We went to Amy's Ice Cream afterward.

Balki's paper hat

| | Comments (1)

I wish I had seen this photo back when I had various pictures of paper hats on the paperhat main page. Oh well - live and learn.

Speaking of Perfect Strangers, I noticed that President Bush was in Latvia this week. Isn't that where Balki was from?

Cousin Larry was so uptight. It's a good thing he had Balki or he would never do anything fun.
