More Ava Humor

| | Comments (2)

Ava unveiled her newest joke last night at dinner. Pointing to the dog on her shirt, she says, "Doggie, neigh" then laughs. It's pretty funny. Especially when Ava tells it.

Rorschach...more like RorschHack

I read Wikipedia's Rorschach Test entry. This is a total hack of a test. Here are a few prime quotes.

Although the psychologist will not tell the patient so, spontaneous turning of the blot or asking permission to do so is seen as a positive sign if the blot is turned 90, 180, or 270 degrees; however, turning the cards at odd angles or covering portions of the cards is considered a sign of brain damage.

sociable people have a tendency to see animals in this image; people with schizophrenia have a tendency to see a vase in this image

How many people have been diagnosed with schizophrenia based on seeing a vase in an ink blot. I saw Abe Lincoln in a cloud today. I wonder if that means I have brain damage.

I have nothing to say to you tonight.

I'm curious. What does this look like to you?

Things Ava Says

| | Comments (3)

My favorites right now are:

-Keeee (kitty) Ava is particularly fond of her newly acquired white fuzzy kitty beanie that she has abducted from Zoe.

-BleYuu (bless you) She nicely says bless you after you sneeze. There is an awful lot of sneezing at our house.

-Maaamaaaa c'mere (or Daddy or Zoe, Come Here)
Her way of calling for assistance.

-K? (ok?) When you bonk yourself or fall down, she asks if you are ok.

-Guu? (good?) When we all sit down to a meal, Ava checks to see if our food is good. We make yummy noises and she is assured that her hostess duties have been fulfilled.

-Yea (yes) For a while, Ava said "no" to all questions posed to her. Sometimes "no" meant yes and sometimes it meant no. She also added in head nods and shakes that didn't necessarily correspond with the no or yes that she meant. It was quite confusing and frustrating for all of us. It is so nice that she can now answer yes.

-Banket (blanket) Ava's soft "white" fuzzy blanket is a constant companion for her. It is smelly with use and love.

-Want (want) This is a very useful verb to know. Want blanket. Want down. Want juice. Want Daddy. Want kitty. Want candy. Want bear. It comes in handy.

My Acting Debut

It's only a bit part in Zoe's movie, but this is my first acting role. Do you think I have potential?

Tomorrow

Zoe is giving singing lessons now. They are free to anybody who is willing. Watch her demonstration of proper technique.

Zoe Sings

This morning I made eggs for breakfast for Zoe and me. I scrambled two eggs, and both of the eggs I cracked had double yolks. Is this a sign?

UPDATE: I found this in the Golden Valley Foods FAQ.

If double yolk eggs are as rare as twins, why did I get more than one in a container?
There are approximately two hundred egg producing barns in B.C. These eggs are graded barn by barn at the grading plant. Most double yolk eggs are produced by young birds, so therefore barns that contain young flocks have a large concentration of these eggs. Usually a young bird will lay a small egg, but if the egg is a double yolk, it tends to be either large or extra large size. This tends to be true in humans as well, where expectant mothers tend to become “larger” for multiple birth pregnancies. Knowing all this, if you look at the extra large and large eggs coming from a young flock, the chances of it being a double yolker are actually quite high. So chances are, the container with lots of double yolk eggs is from a young flock of birds. If you got a single double yolk egg, it probably came from a more mature flock.

Here's a bonus factoid from that page. One of the top causes of runny eggs is "hot weather during lay".

UPDATE 2: Sarah discovered another double yolk in that dozen. Now that dozen is 3 for 3 in double yolks.
